In this next section we will be discussing the steps an already existing CACFP sponsor must take to add the At-risk Meals Program. The best place to begin is to contact your specialist at the state office and let them know you want to add the At-risk Afterschool Meal Program.
Complete step 1 of the checklist and ensure all required documentation is completed as indicated on the checklist. Specialist will work with you to make sure all documentation that is relevant is being submitted. The requirements may include: board approval to add At-risk Meals, permission to operate in a school from school food service or school administration, pre-approval monitoring form staff training documentation (topics, attendees, dates, etc…), site eligibility documentation, license or license exemption from Child Care Licensing, approval from school nutrition services (as applicable), media release (if adding sites after State Agency statewide release).
Once approved the site will be added to your sponsor application page in CNPweb. Now is a good time to request CNPweb access for additional personnel if needed. Remember you should not be sharing your username and password with other staff within your organization. Update Sponsor Information Sheet, Management Plan, and Budget as necessary. One CNPweb is approved an e-mail notification will be sent and will indicate your eligibility expiration date and first claiming day.
Remember that for new sites any meals served before the day the site application was approved in CNPweb are not eligible to be claimed. Claiming meals for the month prior to operation does not apply to adding new sites in the same way it did when you came on the program as a new sponsor.
